Essex Fourth of July Activities

Independence Day approaches and we hope you’ll stop by Essex to take advantage of some of the Fourth of July activities and events that will be occurring around town!

The following will all take place on Saturday, July 4th unless noted otherwise:

The annual 6.5k Firecracker Run will take place starting at 8:00 am (registration begins at 7:30 am).  The race begins at NEW Health, located on NYS Rt. 22 and Blockhouse Road, who is sponsoring the run. All proceeds will be donated to the Essex Fire Department. If at least 100 runners attend, then the NEW Health will match the donation! The Kids Fun Run will begin at 9:15 am at the blinking light. Join the Red, White & Blue Bike Ride leaving from Lake Champlain Yoga & Wellness at 8:00 am and ride to the Dogwood Bakery in Wadhams.

The Adirondack Art Association will host an art workshop for kids at 3:00 pm. Children will learn to build “fairy houses.” Young children should be accompanied by a grownup to help supervise hot glue gun use.

Enjoy the first Essex Community Concert of the summer with organist, Carol Williams, who will perform at Essex Community Church starting at 7:00 pm.

Throughout the day Main Street shops and cafes will have special “sidewalk sale” tables – weather permitting – from 9:00 am-3:00 pmLake Champlain Yoga & Wellness will be offering chair massage and yoga goodies to visitors during that time as well.

Essex restaurants and cafes will be open during regular hours. There will also be a Farmer’s Market at the Pink Pig.

Fireworks & Parade

This year the Essex-Willsboro fireworks and parade will take place in neighboring Willsboro.

View the fireworks in Willsboro at 9:30PM on Friday, July 3rd.

Watch the parade in Willsboro at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 4th. Note: The Essex Library will be closed on July 4th and will be participating in the parade with the theme of their summer reading program “Every Hero Has a Story.”

More activities will follow after the parade at the town’s soccer field and a sunset boat parade will take place on Willsboro Bay. Click here to learn more.

You can also watch the Town of Westport parade (4:00 pm) and fireworks (9:30 pm) on July 4th. Other activities will be taking place all weekend at the Essex County Fairgrounds in Westport. Click here to learn more.
